Meredith was born December 30, 1953 in Providence, Rhode Island. She has Portuguese ancestry. She married Richard M. Cohen in 1986, they raised three kids, and are still living together. Vieira became popular as a TV host and was hosting various TV shows, including The View and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. Meredith turned down two opportunities for co-hosting, namely The Early Show and Good Morning America, in the nineties, because her children were too young at that point. In 2014, Meredith is experincing great comeback with her own The Meredith Vieira Show.
Career
Meredith dreamt of becoming a journalist since her childhood. After completing her graduation in 1975, she stepped into broadcasting the same year itself. She started her career as a news announcer for the radio channel WORC. Following that, she started working as a local reporter on a TV channel which ultimately helped her to make her way to WCBS-TV as an investigative reporter in New York City. She had to struggle for almost 6-7 years before getting the first breakthrough in 1982 when she managed to make a place in CBS newsroom. She remained with CBS News for next one decade and garnered massive publicity as the co-anchor of the show ‘CBS Morning News’.
Personal Life
Speaking of her love life, Meredith’s love life has been as smooth as her professional life. She found the love of her life during the mid of the 1980s, and it was CBS News journalist Richard M. Cohen. After dating for a few years, the couple got married in 1986. As of now, they’re a happily married couple and has three children together. Her younger son is also a TV journalist.
